Contract Specialist I, II, and III

Location: DC/Northern VA area
Clearance: Active TS/SCI required

We’re seeking skilled Contract Specialists to provide cradle-to-grave contract support across various acquisition levels. Each role will support mission-critical acquisitions, working with federal regulations to secure national security capabilities.

Job Overview
Contract Specialists will support acquisition activities and assist Contracting Officers in planning, managing, and executing procurements for diverse products and services. Responsibilities vary by level, with Contract Specialists I focusing on smaller procurements, while levels II and III lead and mentor junior staff, manage complex projects, and support high-visibility acquisitions.


Responsibilities:

Contract Specialist I

  • Support acquisition for Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (AFRCO) and assist Contracting Officers with small, quick-turnaround procurements.

  • Perform cradle-to-grave contract support, including market research, solicitation preparation, cost/price evaluation, and invoice processing.

  • Assist with contract administration, oversight, and acquisition strategy development.

  • Communicate project status and provide policy recommendations.

Contract Specialist II

  • Lead acquisition planning and support the development of comprehensive acquisition strategies for high-priority contracts.

  • Oversee integration of project planning with program objectives, ensuring consistency across acquisition documentation.

  • Mentor junior staff, review work products, and support contract administration and oversight.

  • Assist with risk assessment, mitigation planning, and policy development.

Contract Specialist III

  • Lead end-to-end acquisition support for Air Force SAP programs and oversee contract staff performance.

  • Conduct program reviews, manage acquisition timelines, and ensure deliverable quality standards.

  • Develop acquisition objectives, lead risk mitigation, and participate in high-level program assessments.

  • Mentor and guide junior team members, manage large-scale purchases, and ensure contract compliance.


Qualifications:

Contract Specialist I

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience: 1+ years in DoD/IC environments (SAP/SCI), familiarity with FAR Part 13, GSA Advantage, and AFWAY.

  • Clearance: TS/SCI

  • Skills: Knowledge of basic contracting processes, cost/price analysis, and simplified acquisition procedures.

Contract Specialist II

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience: 5+ years in contracting (GS1102-13 equivalent or private sector); at least 1 year in SAP/SCI in the past 5 years.

  • Clearance: TS/SCI, CI Poly eligibility

  • Skills: Advanced expertise in acquisition, source selection, negotiation, and contract documentation. Proficiency in ConWrite preferred.

Contract Specialist III

  • Education: Master’s degree

  • Experience: 10+ years in DoD/IC contracting (2+ years SAP/SCI); experience on mission-critical programs.

  • Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Poly eligibility

  • Skills: In-depth FAR knowledge, large-scale purchase experience, source selection, and ability to independently manage high-visibility contracts.


Required Competencies for All Levels:

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Willingness to travel CONUS/OCONUS as needed.

  • Valid driver’s license.
